Calling all with a sweet tooth! This one is for you!
I’ve never been one for sweets – until recently. I never liked cupcakes, cake, or chocolate, or even most kinds of doughnuts. But as my taste buds have changed, I have developed a palate for the sweeter side of life. Here are five places I’ve found around Las Vegas to satisfy my sweet tooth:
Vegans and non-vegans alike will enjoy Cinnaholic. This vegan bakery chain has two location in Las Vegas; one in Summerlin and one in Henderson.
Cinnaholic doesn’t skimp when it comes to flavor. There are classic frostings like almond and hazelnut, but then there are more creative alternatives like strawberry, cake batter or chai frosting. You can also add toppings, like cookie dough, graham crackers and raspberries. They also come up with seasonal flavors, like Pumpkin Spice frosting or Spiced Apple Cider Frosting.
Donut Bar LV
If you’re a donut aficionado, you’ll want to stop by Donut Bar. Located in downtown Las Vegas, Donut Bar doesn’t go with your typical, every day flavors like powdered sugar and glazed. Here, you’ll find a donut dedicated to Homer Simpson, covered in cake batter glaze and sprinkles. You’ll find a donut inspired by Butter Beer from the Harry Potter universe, and the Big Poppa Tart donut, a pastry stuffed inside Pop Tart. They’re open every day and stay open until their last donut is gone.

Start your week off with the S’Mores Big Poppa Tart! #Repost @josephrwinter ・・・ With @donutbarlv just around the corner from our hotel in Vegas, a trip was inevitable. I went for the Big Poppa Tart Donut: a super-soft donut stuffed with a whole chocolate Pop Tart, topped with cake batter glaze, crumbled Pop Tarts, donut sprinkles, and chocolate sauce! And yes, it was as outrageous as it sounds! #DonutBar #LifeIsBeautiful #DTLV #lv #BestDonutsInTheWorld
This steak house, located inside Planet Hollywood, is known for its 24-layer chocolate cake. This is too much chocolate for me to even consider eating, but it’s going on the list because from what I hear, it’s to die for. This gigantic pastry is big enough for up to ten people, so take plenty of people to split it with you.
I can’t make a list like this and not include Dona Maria’s. The biggest reason people go to Dona Maria’s is for the tamales, which are some of the best in the city, but they stay for the flan. And the fried ice cream. They’ve got two locations – one in the northwest part of the valley and one in downtown Las Vegas – and for tourists, the one in the downtown area will be your best bet.
Black Tap LV
Black Tap, located inside the Venetian, is known for their burgers and milkshakes. Now, these aren’t the kind of milkshakes your mom is used to; these are monster milkshakes. Try the Brooklyn Blackout, which comes with a brownie on top, or the Bam Bam shake, topped with Fruity Pebbles and a Rice Krispy treat. The prices are decent, considering the place is on the Strip, and the shakes are some of the most innovative creations you’ll find.
If you’re looking for something sweet in a hurry, no matter the time of day, try out the Cupcake ATM. This 24-hour sweet-dispensing machine is part of Sprinkles Cupcakes Bakery, located inside the LINQ. They only take cards at the ATM, but they’re constantly stocked and constantly rotating their flavors. If you’re in the area and craving something tasty, see what’s on the menu at the Cupcake ATM.
