Five Family-Friendly Activities in Las Vegas

Las Vegas may not be the first place you think of when planning a family-friendly vacation, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be. From water parks, lounge pools, to crazy museums, you’re sure to find something to keep your kids entertained while you’re in Las Vegas. Here are just a few suggestions for some family-friendly activities to try while in the City of Live Entertainment:

Shark Reef

The Shark Reef, located inside Mandalay Bay, is the only predator-based aquarium you’ll find in the United States. With more than 200 species on display in its exhibits, visitors are submerged in an underwater world unlike anything else you’ll experience in Las Vegas. Shark Reef prides itself on its education program; the aquarium offers daily tours to school groups and Girl Scout programs, that incorporates hands-on learning for every grade level. All ages are welcome inside Shark Reef, and admission is free for children 3 and under.

Discovery Children’s Museum

Previously known as Lied Discovery Children’s Museum, the Discovery Museum has been a part of the Las Vegas community for nearly thirty years. Its award-winning exhibits and educational programs attract millions of visitors every year. Kids can learn about anything from desert wildlife, All ages are welcome, and ticket prices start at 14.50 for general admission.

Springs Preserve

Springs Preserve is a must-see for nature loving families. Open year-round, Springs Preserve is home to events, activities and exhibits designed to give its visitors an insight into the true beginnings of Las Vegas. Kids can explore outdoor exhibits, such as the botanical garden and butterfly habitat, or stay inside and explore DesertSol, the 100% solar-powered, sustainable home built by the UNLV Solar Decathlon Team in 2013. If you plan an entire day at Springs Preserve you can stop in at the Nevada State Museum, which is located next door. Springs Preserve is an excellent way for families to spend time together, learning about the nature and the history of Nevada and the Southwest.

Secret Garden & Dolphin Habitat

Sigfried & Roy’s Secret Garden & Dolphin Habitat is a must-see for any kids that visit Las Vegas. Located inside the Mirage, the Secret Garden is the original exotic animal exhibit of the Las Vegas Strip. Inside guests get a close-up view of panthers, jaguars, dolphins and whales, as well as the white tigers that brought the Sigfried & Roy to fame. For an extra charge, guests can also schedule painting and yoga classes with the dolphins. All ages are welcome inside the Secret Garden, and children 3 and under enter free.

Marvel STATION

If your kids love superheroes, you’ll want to visit Marvel STATION. Located inside Treasure Island Las Vegas, S.T.A.T.I.O.N. is an exhibit dedicated entirely to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Guests interact with the displays to learn about the characters and complete their “mission” to become a S.T.A.T.I.O.N. agent. All ages are welcome inside the exhibit, and ticket prices start at 24.00 for children, and 34.00 for adults.
